Why this row
Developers added 53 GW in 2025, the largest year since 2002, including record solar and record storage, and they plan 86 GW for 2026. The reliability regulator forecasts summer peak demand rising 224 GW over ten years, a forecast 69% higher than the one it made a year before. China added 543 GW in 2025. The row asks developers to reach by 2030 a pace 16% above what they have already scheduled for 2026 and hold it. It is anticipatory because builders deliver it once rows 7 and 9 clear the way, and row 10 guards it.

Each July 4 the row shows its baseline, this path, the latest official value and a status of ahead, on schedule or behind. As an anticipatory row it reports the public decisions that delayed it.
