Is X Serious?
A thermodynamic evaluation of ideas, people, and movements
About Seriousness
This site evaluates the "seriousness" of ideas, people, and movements using a thermodynamic framework. Seriousness is the ability to go against energy gradients and grow the system toward beauty (success, accomplishment, etc.). It's rooted in the second law of thermodynamics, measuring whether entities add energy and structure to overcome entropy.
E (Energy & Resources)
Energy and resources available to the system (flux over time). Does the entity add net new resources like funding, power, materials, or food to the context?
v (Infrastructure & Efficiency)
Infrastructure and conversion efficiency of E. Does the entity improve throughput, build durable capacity (buildings, technologies, institutions), or enhance resource utilization?
α (Order & Coordination)
Order: coordination vs. chaos. The network scaling coefficient. Does the entity reduce internal disorder, inspire cooperation, create harmony, or increase division and factions?
